15 Crazy Popular Bukkit Plugins
Open-source technology is one of the coolest things about our generation. Especially when that technology helps us enjoy Minecraft even more!
Bukkit was an open source platform that was built to help Minecrafters create plugins more easily. Even though Bukkit was discontinued, many of the plugins still live on. In fact, some of the game’s best plugins have come from creators who used Bukkit to enhance gameplay. We’ve actually profiled some of our favorite Bukkit plugins once before, but that list was for Minecraft versions 1.6.4 – 1.7.2. Some of those plugins are a bit outdated so now we’re profiling 15 of today’s most popular Bukkit plugins. Let’s get started!
1. WorldGuard
WorldGuard is popular because it offers a unique bag of tricks. It allows players to set game rules on specific areas, disable or blacklist certain blocks, create zoning restrictions within a World and is available with many other mods. There’s a lot more you can do with this plugin, but we still have 14 more plugins to cover!
2. Multiverse-Core
Multiverse is one of the older Bukkit plugins out there. Originally created near the beginning of Bukkit multi-World support, Multiverse offers custom generators, multiverse portals, custom Aliases and a whole lot more.
3. Bow Spleef
Ever walk across TNT boxes? Bow Spleef is quite the explosive Minecraft minigame! This plugin is all about making it easy to have Bow Spleef on your server. It enables multi-World support, automatic Quit systems, the ability to save inventories and more. And don’t forget that Super Bow Spleef is available as well!
4. PermissionsEx<h/2>
PermissionsEx (PEX) is a unique Minecraft plugin. Not only is it the oldest permissions plugin you can get with Bukkit, but it also offers the most control. PEX also offers in-game command-management, world modification restrictions (called Modifyworld) and different back-ends.
5. Vault
Vault is a multi-use API used to help Minecrafters connect plugins and systems more efficiently than they could using Register or the current Permissions API. Vault plugins are designed to support any system that you might be using. That sort of flexibility certainly helps with its popularity!
6. AdminFun
AdminFun was created – you guessed it – to help make the game more fun for the Admin. It does so by offering broadcasting, the ability to shoot players into the air and more. AdminFun is now available on Spigot.
7. Parkour
You’ve probably seen the videos of people leaping, climbing and tumbling around from place to place, right? Of course! Parkour is huge! The Parkour plugin was created to help Minecrafters create their own Parkour courses within their World. You can even invite your friends to join in!
8. Scoreboard Stats
Do you like keeping score when you play with your friends? If so, you’ll love Scoreboard Stats. The latest version features a bunch of customization options and is available on all types of servers.
9. Factions
Factions is a multiplayer plugin that allows players to group themselves into separate teams – or factions. Each faction can claim land as its own and build a base there, opening the door for other factions to become friends or foes.
10. BedHome
They say home is where your heart is. We think it’s where your bed is. And with this plugin, you can actually teleport to your own bed instantaneously! Using another plugin called BedHome N Spawn, you can also transport to spawn.
11. EchoPet
If a dog can be man’s best friends, then your World is incomplete without a pet, right?! No matter what animal suits your taste, EchoPet is a great plugin that enables you to have your own pet who will stick by your side through thick and thin. Unfortunately, the future of EchoPet is a uncertain right now.
12. Essentials
If you love choice, Essentials is an awesome plugin for you. It offers a ton of features that can be used on nearly all servers, and also comes with over 100 commands, including full moderator control, first join kits and teleport requests. The only downside is that there is no official Essentials for Minecraft versions 1.8 or 1.8.4.
13. NoCheatPlus
NoCheatPlus is an important plugin because it can help users keep a level playing field. It protects servers, blocks hacks & spam, and diffuses all sorts of other malicious behaviors. If you’re looking to keep your game pure, NoCheatPlus is an absolute must!
14. Lockette
Sometimes you’ve just gotta keep people out of your things. Lockette is the perfect plugin to help you with this. It allows you to restrict access to doors, chests, dispensers and more. You can decide who is able to get into what!
15. Holographic
If you ever wonder what the future will be like, just check out the Holographic plugin. Watch holographic images float all around you, and control what you can. It’s easy to see why this plugin is one of Bukkit’s most downloaded!
